Challenges
When Buildbite came to Exceed in November 2023, they were early in their journey. Still finding product-market fit, with a lean team and almost no organic presence. They were generating 421 monthly sessions, ranking for 23 keywords, and had zero inbound pipeline from search.
The product was born out of the founders' own construction company, which meant early customers came almost entirely through industry connections in the Nordics. It was a natural starting point, but it had a hard ceiling. Their biggest addressable markets were the US and UK, and they had no system to meaningfully engage contractors and field service teams in those regions.
The opportunity was clear. Contractors and field service teams in the US and UK were searching every day for tools to manage jobs, track time, and replace the chaos of WhatsApp and spreadsheets. Buildbite had the product. They just needed to show up when those buyers were looking.
Growth summary
We built Buildbite's entire organic channel from the ground up, strategy, content, authority, and attribution. All starting with zero.
The first step was understanding exactly who Buildbite's best-fit customers were and how they searched. The specific searches tradespeople, contractors, and field managers made when they were fed up with their current way of working and actively looking for a solution. Job management tools for tradesmen. Real estate development software. Construction mobile apps. Searches with genuine commercial intent behind them.
From there, we built a content engine focused entirely on the bottom of the funnel.
Every piece targeted buyers already in evaluation mode. Target people comparing tools, looking for alternatives, searching for software built for their specific trade or use case. We avoided broad industry topics that attract traffic without pipeline and focused on the searches that actually convert.
We built domain authority in parallel. Targeted link building and brand placements in construction and field service publications gave Google the trust signals it needed to rank a brand-new domain against established competitors. As authority grew, so did our ability to compete for higher-volume, higher-intent keywords.
What made Buildbite's case unique was the timing. We were building the SEO channel while they were still finding product-market fit. The inbound demand generated through organic search — sales conversations, trials, and new customers — gave Buildbite real signal on who their best buyers were and what they cared about. SEO didn't just drive pipeline. It accelerated the path to PMF.
Over roughly two years, we built out a full SEO programme with strong commercial focus:
→ monthly organic sessions grew from 421 to 3,333,
→ bottom-funnel keywords grew from 18 to 1,135
→ AI referral sessions grew from zero to 140 per month
