Challenges

Crono had a strong outbound motion but almost no organic inbound. When they came to Exceed in December 2024, they were generating 1,260 monthly clicks, ranking for 125 keywords. Most of the traffic came through branded searches, or very informational queries at the top of the funnel.

Their sales team created pipeline through outbound, but the moment outbound slowed, pipeline dried up. There was no organic, compounding marketing channel to balance it out. 

However, the main challenge was that buyers couldn’t find Crono when they were actively searching for a solution.

The opportunity was great, as B2B sales teams were searching for tools like Crono every day, comparing alternatives to competitors, looking for social selling tools, evaluating AI-powered prospecting platforms. Crono just wasn't showing up for any of it.

We started by mapping the exact searches Crono's buyers made when actively evaluating sales tools. Not broad educational content about B2B sales. Buying searches, the kind that signal someone is already comparing options and ready to decide.

That meant targeting three keyword clusters from day one:

→ Competitor alternative pages for buyers evaluating tools like Outreach and Apollo

→ Category comparisons for searches like "best social selling tools" and "AI tools for sales prospecting"

→ Pain-point content addressing the specific frustrations Crono's ICP felt, such as fragmented sales stacks, manual prospecting work, and low outbound reply rates

Every piece was designed to intercept buyers at the moment of decision.

We built Crono's authority and AI presence at the same time. Brand placements in trusted sales and GTM publications gave Google the signals it needed to rank a relatively new domain for competitive keywords. Those same placements built the third-party validation LLMs draw from when recommending sales tools, and as buyers increasingly turn to ChatGPT and Perplexity to find software, that presence compounds over time.
